  • NFL WEEK 4 ROUNDUP

    Chicago Bears (3-1)………………….48
    Detroit Lions (1-3)……………………24
The Lions couldn’t win a second game this week, but put forth a good effort against the Bears. Lions QB Matt Stafford twisted his right knee while being sacked in the 4th quarter.

    Cincinnati Bengals (3-1)……………23
    Cleveland Browns (0-4)…………….20 (OT)
The Browns blocked 2 kicks in the game: a punt in the 1st quarter, and a PAT in the 4th (which kept the score tied at 20-20 and sent the game into overtime), but it wasn’t enough in the end. Cincinnati’s QB Carson Palmer ran the ball on 4th and 11 to setup a 31-yard field goal to win the game in OT.

    Houston Texans (2-2)……………….29
    Oakland Raiders (1-3)………………..6
The Texans defense gave up only 165 yards, the 2nd fewest in team history. Houston’s Jacoby Jones returned a kickoff for 95 yards and a TD midway through the 3rd quarter.

    Indianapolis Colts (4-0)……………..34
    Seattle Seahawks (1-3)………………17
Peyton Manning completed 31 of 41 passes for a total of 353 yards and 2 TD passes, tying Fran Tarkenton for 3rd place on the career TD pass list with 342.

    Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2)…………37
    Tennessee Titans (0-4)……………..17

The Titans had 3 turnovers and 4 punts in their first 8 possessions, while Jacksonville’s David Garrard threw for a total of 323 yards and 3 TDs.

    New York Giants (4-0)………………27
    Kansas City Chiefs (0-4)……………16

Peyton Manning’s little bro had a great game Sunday too, throwing for a total of 292 yards and 3 TDs before injuring his right heel. The Chefs (sic) have lost 27 of their last 29 games. FML.

    New England Patriots (3-1)……….27
    Baltimore Ravens (3-1)…………….21

Tom Brady racked up another W, while the Ravens defense criticized the officials for two penalties that kept the Pat’s alive. Baltimore’s Mark Clayton dropped a 4th-down pass inside the 10-yard line with 28 seconds left to play.

    Washington Redskins (2-2)……….16
    Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-4)…….13

Washington scored all their points on 3 consecutive possessions in the 3rd quarter. Tampa Bay’s offense just didn’t want the ball anymore, combining for 3 INTs and a fumble.

    Miami Dolphins (1-3)…………………38
    Buffalo Bills (1-3)……………………..10

Miami’s #2 QB Chad Henne had his first NFL start, replacing the injured Chad Pennington. Henne was sacked 6 times, but his running backs combined for 250 rushing yards. After the game, T.O. said “We’re just a couple of plays from being 3-1 or 4-0.” Your team only lost by 4 TDs, brainiac.

    New Orleans Saints (4-0)…………..24
    New York Jets (3-1)…………………..10

NY’s rookie QB Mark Sanchez threw 3 INTs and fumbled once (in the endzone) to help the Jets earn their first loss. Pete Carroll called Sanchez to after the game to say, “I told you so.” New Orleans is 4-0 for the first time since 1993.

    Denver Broncos (4-0)………………..17
    Dallas Cowboys (2-2)………………..10

Denver’s Brandon Marshall had an impressive 51-yard catch-and-run with 1:46 left in the game. The Cowboys made a great effort to get the ball back down the field, but Romo’s pass was knocked down in the endzone by Champ Bailey with 1 second left to play.

    San Francisco 49ers (3-1)………….35
    St. Louis Rams (0-4)……………………0

The Rams were shutout for a second time this season, and currently have the league’s longest losing streak, with 14 in a row. Let’s hope the St. Louis Cardinals can represent Missouri in a positive way, because BOTH our football teams are 0-4.

    Minnesota Vikings (4-0)…………….30
    Green Bay Packers (2-2)……………23

This was possibly the most anticipated game of the season, with Brett Favre playing against the Packers for the first time in history. Favre threw 3 TD passes and completed 24 of 31 for a total of 271 yards (with no INTs). He set yet another NFL record, becoming first QB in NFL history to defeat all 32 teams at least once. Favre’s replacement, Aaron Rodgers, was sacked 8 times by Minnesota’s defense.
