RUGBY AND GOLF BROUGHT BACK TO OLYMPIC GAMES
It’s been over 100 years since golf was played in the Olympic Games; Rugby was last played in 1924. Both will be played at the Summer Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro in 2016, and again in 2020, after a vote Friday morning by the Olympic Committee. Golf was approved 63-27 with two abstentions. Rugby was voted in 81-8 with one abstention. The rugby competition will be a 4-day, 7-a-side tournament for 12 separate men’s and women’s teams. The golf competition will be a 72-hole stroke-play tournament for men and women, with 60 players in each field.
Tiger Woods had previously indicated that he would play in the 2016 Summer Games if Golf were to be reinstated. One more thing the U.S. can dominate the rest of the world at!
