  • GIRARDI TO POSADA: “TAKE A SEAT”

Yankees veteran catcher Jorge Posada got news yesterday that he will not be starting in tonight’s game 2 of the ALDS against the Minnesota Twins. Instead, Yanks skipper Joe Girardi is going with Jose Molina to catch starting pitcher A.J. Burnett. Hideki Matsui is in the DH spot, so there will be no room for Posada in the game. Posada had started every one of the Yanks’ postseason games since Game 3 of the first round against the Angels in 2005. Molina is not known to be a great hitter, but has caught Burnett several times this season. Tonight will be Burnett’s first post-season start, so the move is to help Burnett feel more comfortable on the mound. Let’s hope Girardi’s decision pays off for the Yanks!
